Benjamin Battersby is a British photographer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Drawing on his background in visual storytelling, Battersby’s photographs are quiet, observant, and emotionally charged , circling the space between presence and absence, documentation and memory.

His work has received international recognition, including a Gold and Second Place award at PX3 Paris, multiple distinctions at the 1839 Photography Awards (Bronze in Storytelling and People’s Choice with 111k votes), an Honorable Mention at IPA Athens, and inclusion in Der Greif’s Guest Room curated by Charlotte Jansen and Christine Serchia. He was short listed for the 2024 Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales in Argentina.

Originally from London, he spent over three decades working as a cinematographer before turning to still photography as a way to navigate profound personal upheaval. His work now focuses on illness, identity, vulnerability, departure, and the emotional textures of everyday life.

Much of his recent work, including the ongoing project BREATHE, explores the impact of chronic illness and survival on both body and self and how these experiences shape one’s place in the world. Other series, such as A Home That No Longer Exists, examine the imprint of place, memory, and the ruptures of emigration.
